About Manipur High Court
The High Court of Manipur was established on 25 March 2013 under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) and Other Related Laws (Amendment) Act, 2012, making it one of the youngest High Courts in India. Before that, matters from the state were heard by the Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court. The court sits at Imphal and exercises jurisdiction over the entire State of Manipur. It hears writ petitions under Articles 226 and 227, civil and criminal appeals and revisions, bail applications, public interest litigations, service matters and election petitions, and supervises the district and sessions courts across Manipur's districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur.
